Course Overview
- Introductory course on the fundamental aspects of research methodsand research areas in Economics and Management. - - Three different researchers will present to students the keyelements of a research paper in English (review of literature,hypotheses, variables, findings, etc.) and the specific methodologyused in the paper, such as : - econometric analysis - qualitative design based on multiple sources of data - artefactual field experiments (LFEs), natural field experiments(RCTs) - o etc. - This year, students will look at topics ranging from socialentrepreneurship, cheap talk and coordination applied to collectivecommercialization in Senegal, and an econometric analysis of thedeterminants and specificities of eco innovations. - Students will also acquire academic phrases, vocabulary, word listsand sentence starters that can be readily used in research papers inEconomics and Management.

- One hour and a half final exam - MCQ format - Two parts: seminar - Related questions and questions about the content of onlineexercises.
Course schedule
The course is based on the Content and Language Integrated Learning(CLIL) approach where students learn a subject and a second language(English) at the same time. The main purpose of the course is toenable students understand the content of the lesson,as well as thelanguage through which the information is being conveyed. - The researcher selects key passages that students must read intheresearch paper before the seminar session - An English teacher willcreate customized online exercises that will help students understandeach research paper better by studying specific background vocabulary,academic English phrases (transitioning words and phrases, essay andsentence structure, etc.), and boost their general English skills aswell.
