Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Course Overview

This course aims to develop a fundamental understanding ofthe processes by which heat and energy are inter-related and converted and by which heat is transferred. The course will review major principles of energy conversion aridthe modes of heat transfer. The basic laws of thermodynamics and the governing equations for 'heat t.unrdi and thermodynamics will be introduced and subsequently used to solve practical engineering problems involving thermodynamics and heat trinsfer. The course will also cover fundamental principles of power generation systems.

Learning Achievement

Describe the working principles of thermodynamics systems and explain the concept of various heat transfer modes 2. Analyze the performance of thermodynamics systems or the magnitude ofheat transfer rates for various heat transfer modes 3. Examine, discuss and further improve the thermal performance of thermodynamics systems and/or heat transfer rates.
