Basic German AII University of Tsukuba
This German language course for beginners is designed to learn basic grammar (Basic Level) while acquiring the fundamental four skills (Listening/Reading/ Speaking/Writing).
THIS COURSE IS TO BE TAKEN AS A SET OF THREE (Mo6, Mi6, Do6). IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TAKE JUST ONE OF THE THREE. JUST TWO: ONLY ON REQUEST (Mon & Wed: focus on language. Thu: focus on music & culture.) The objectives of the course are to develop the four classical receptive & productive language skills (listening/reading & speaking/writing), but also the two equally important skills of interaction and mediation (helping each other to understand). Therefore, the classes will be held synchronously - if somehow possible. On completion of the course, students will have acquired practical German Languages, gained some insight in central European cultures, and practiced intensive teamwork.
1. Ability to communicate, to interact, to mediate, and to work in groups.
2. Learning to learn (e.g. loci method); note taking.
3. Critical thinking.
Homework (learner diary, notebook & listening comprehension quiz): 40%. Presentation with audience Q&A: 20%. Random group conversation with Q&A: 20%. Pronunciation: 10%. Final report: 10%. (The remaining performances are done in the Mon. and Wed. classes and count for those.)
