Course Overview
> The aim of this course is_:_ - To understand the role of medicines in therapeutics, healthservices and society. - To become familiar with the life cycle of medicines and theregulatory aspects of medicines market. - To review the clinical and pharmacological basis of prescribing. - To understand the need to evaluate the effects of medicines from anepidemiological perspective. - To understand the relevance of unbiased information to ensure theappropriate use of medicines. - To discuss the need to monitor medicines prescribing process.

Course prerequisites
- Bachelor degree in Health or Life Sciences. - Language prerequisites: Non-native English speakers must provide acertificate proving a minimum of English B2 level (cf. Europass[http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/]). - Computer and internet requirement.
Grading Philosophy
Assessment is a mix of continuous assessment.
Course schedule
> This course consists of the following parts: - Clinical pharmacology. Aims and uses in the therapeutics. - Clinical pharmacology and epidemiological evaluation of medicineeffects. - The randomized clinical trials (RCT) as a method for assess theefficacy of medicines. - Basics for RCT appraisal: extrapolation of RCTs results to clinicalpractice.
