Focused on algae biomass, useful functions and compounds are introduced from the viewpoints of energy, food, health and life securities, then current status and future prospects of their business are shown and discussed.
Learning Achievement
Students will understand developing human resources with advanced knowledge and technology and high entrepreneurship for algae biomass by the following achievements. 1) Acquiring basic knowledge on functions and compounds from algae 2) Understanding the current global issues to be solved in the terms of energy, food, health and life securities 3) Understanding technological and social bottlenecks to solve the global issues by biomass utilization 4) Capable of proposing technology and system appropriate for getting over the bottlenecks 5) Understanding current size and future prospect of algae market 6) Understanding commercialization processes of algae biomass 7) Acquiring entrepreneurship

Grading Philosophy
The students will be evaluated by the report submission. Grade (A +, A, B, C) is determined based on how clearly and comprehensibly can explain the utilization of algal biomass as a material of industrial products.
