CE-P03: Computer-based Analysis of Steel Structures Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Course Overview
This course is introductory and intends to achieve a basic understanding of applied mechanics approaches to slender steel structure modelling and structural durability, which can serve as a foundation for the exploration of more advanced theories and analyses of different kind of structures. The purpose of this course is to bridge the gap between applied mechanics and structural steel design using state-of-the-art tools.
Learning Achievement
This course will introduce students to the fundamental structural and fatigue behaviour of steel structures, numerical solution procedures and modelling details. The course will also convey to students the ability to use numerical tools and software packages for the solution of practical problems in engineering.

Fundamental knowledge in mechanics and strength of materials
Grading Philosophy
Written examination for the total module / 150 minutes
