Comparative Politics 3 University of Tsukuba
Course Overview
The goal of this course is that students improve their understandings of theories and approaches that are used in the field of comparative politics through the readings of articles that are published in top journals in political science (and that are not examined in "比較政治3", "比較政治4", and "Comparative Politics 4"). Through this training, students are expected to generate the idea of their dissertation. Students are expected to present their own research or research plan, discuss it with other participants and the instructor, and improve their project.
Learning Achievement
Through the reading of papers in the field of comparative politics that were published in top journals, students shape their research idea and plan for their PhD dissertation. - Creation of Knowledge: Students will improve abilities to critically assess previous research. - Communication Skill: Students will become able to discuss and explain latest findings. - Internationality: Students will understand emerging political phenomena around the world from a comparative perspective. - Research Skill: Students will draft a research paper based on the knowledge obtained from previous research. - Expert Knowledge: Students will comprehend latest findings in the field of Comparative Politics.

汎用コンピテンスのうち「知の創成力」「コミュニケーション能力」「国際性」に関連する。専門コンピテンスのうち「研究力」「専門知識」に関連する。 Students acquire critical thinking skills (General Competence: Creation of Knowledge), academic writing skills (Expert Competence: Research Skill) and expert knowledge in the field of comparative politics (Expert Competence: Expert Knowledge) through the reading of recent and advanced findings in this area of research (General Competence: Internationality). Students are also expected to improve their skills to discuss those findings with others as well as explain them (General Competence: Communication Skill).
