Course Overview
Students will develop their ability to communicate in everyday
situations while deepening their understanding of the Japanese
language and Japanese culture. In speaking and listening skills,
students will develop the ability to understand complex sentences
and simple paragraphs, and to produce complex sentence-level
discourse. In reading and writing skills, students will become able
to read and write longer, coherent compositions while
appropriately using hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
Learning Achievement
Students will develop their abilities to communicate in everyday situations while deepening their understanding of the Japanese language and Japanese culture. In the skill areas of speaking and listening, students will develop the ability to understand complex sentences and simple paragraphs, and to produce complex sentence-level discourse. In the areas of reading and writing, students will become able to read and write longer compositions while appropriately using Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji.

Course prerequisites
This class is limited to short-term exchange students (undergrad).
Students have to certify this subject fits their level by taking the placement test (http://ttbj-tsukuba.org/) or by passing a subject one level below this subject.
Grading Philosophy
Midterm exam 40%, Final exam 40%, In-class activities 20%
Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.
