Comprehensive Japanese 5 Reading and Writing B University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

Students will be able to read and write coherent texts that are about things they are familiar with, as well as slightly specialized topics.

Learning Achievement

Students will be able to:
・ correctly understand the content of the reading.
・ deepen their knowledge and understanding of the reading
・ appropriately express both orally and in writing what they understood and thought about the reading
・ learn and use vocabulary, expressions, grammar, and sentence patterns

Student must have completed Comprehensive Japanese 4.

Course schedule

Week 1: Course introduction (Orientation)
Weeks 2 to 14: Reading articles, essays, narratives, etc. We will practice how to correctly answer reading comprehension questions both orally and in writing.
There will be activities to enrich knowledge of vocabulary, expressions, grammar, and sentence patterns, and for students to exchange ideas and opinion about the reading with others. Students will also be trained to write reflective essays and learn to use quotations. A theme for a short report on each reading will be given.
