Comprehensive Japanese 6 Reading and Writing A University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

Students will be able to speak and write compositions about what they think of the somewhat highly specialized things they read for class.

Learning Achievement

Students will be able to:
・ correctly understand the content of readings such as news articles, essays, narratives, etc.
・ appropriately express both orally and in writing what they understood and thought about the reading.
・ learn and use vocabulary, expressions, grammar, and sentence patterns for writing purposes

Competence

1. Communication ability, 2. Ability for critical and creative thinking, and 4. Broad perspective and international character

Course prerequisites

Students must possess reading comprehension skills that allow them to understand material with social themes, and have the writing skills and knowledge of kanji and vocabulary to be able to write about these. Students’ level should be equivalent to the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Level N2.

Grading Philosophy

Compositions 30%, Midterm test 30%, Final test 40%

Week 1 to 15:
