Comprehensive Japanese 6 Speaking and Listening B University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

Students will be able to listen to and understand somewhat specialized speeches and explanations. In addition, they will be able to use expressions appropriate to the person they are speaking to.

Learning Achievement

Students will be able to:
・speak in a manner appropriate to the situation and the person they are speaking to.
・pick up the necessary information from somewhat highly specialized conversations and be able to accurately understand their content.
・conduct interviews, make speeches and engage in discussions about somewhat highly specialized topics.

Course prerequisites

Students have to certify this subject fits their level by taking the
placement test (http://ttbj-tsukuba.org/) or by passing a subject one level below this subject.

Grading Philosophy

Assignments submitted to Manaba 20%, Quiz 10%, Presentation 40%, Mid-term exam and Final exam 30%
Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.

Details will be given in class or posted on manaba. Students are expected to be active and to prepare for and complete tasks. They are also expected to use Japanese as much as they can outside of the classroom, and make an effort to watch TV and listen to the radio on their own.
