Course Overview
現代日本の教育をめぐる論点を政策、制度、実践といった多角的な視点から理解し、またその課題について十分な知識をもとに論じることができるようになることを目標とする。授業では、日本の教育をめぐるさまざまなテーマを取り上げ、その原理、政策、実践を概説する。具体的には、教育制度、学校経営、数学教育、理科教育、社会科教育、言語教育政策、道徳教育、特別支援教育、高等教育をテーマとし、近年の改革動向とその課題を提示する。授業の内容をもとに討論を行い、論点についての理解を深める。なお、主として英語で授業を行う。

Class Overview The goal is to be able to understand the issues surrounding education in contemporary Japan from multiple perspectives such as policy, institution, and practice, and to be able to discuss the issues based on sufficient knowledge. In the course, we will take up various themes related to Japanese education and outline their principles, policies, and practices. Specifically, the themes of the education system, school management, mathematics education, science education, social science education, language education policy, moral education, special needs education, and higher education and recent reform trends and their issues will be presented. Students will have discussions based on the content of the lesson and they will deepen their understanding of the issues. The course is conducted mainly in English. 1.
