Energy Materials I University of Tsukuba
Course Overview
The aim of this course is to give the knowledge, understand and concept in the area of energy materials science. The topics that will be discussed include basic principles and methods of power generation, materials properties that restrict photovoltaics performances, stability and eco-friendliness and so on; followed with the properties of organic semiconductors including intrinsic and extrinsic properties, structure-properties relationship, electrical and optoelectronics properties. The energy band and charge transport mechanism, new molecule approaches to high-efficiency photovoltaics devices will also be discussed. From this, the organic/inorganic photovoltaics were introduced, and the relevance simple devices fabrication technique and associated effects, concepts underlying heterojunctions, interface properties, stability and cost-effectiveness for commercials aspects will also be discussed.

Course schedule
This lecture, given by Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman (Akhtar-sensei), UKM in Malaysia, was originally scheduled in the Spring term as an intensive lecture; however, it was re-scheduled in the Autumn term due to the COVID-19.Please note that the 1st class is online (MS-Teams) at 10:10--11:25 on Oct. 5 (Monday). We discuss when is convenient for students, and decide when the next class is. For this purpose, could you send me an email to T. Suemasu prior to the 1st class (Oc. 5) ?This is to invite you to the MS-Teams. ecology@bk.tsukuba.ac.jpAlso, feel free to ask me anything. best, T. SuemasuDepartment of Applied Physics
