Course Overview
Soil is a fundamental part that supports the natural ecosystems. This lecture deal with basic soil concept, basic soil chemistry, soil functions in ecosystems, soil genesis and classification, soil degradation and conservation, and the rerationships between global environmental issues and soil. In this lecture, we will have brainstorming and group discussions on soil issues.
Learning Achievement
Soils are the basis for the terrestrial ecosystems, and often treated nowadays as the resource like water and minerals. In this lecture, soils and soil environments are explained including their genesis and taxonomical point of view.

・ Acquisition of specialized knowledge on soil environmental chemistry

. Learn the literacy of pedology (soil formation taxonomy, soil resource conservation).

・ Develop presentation skills using PC and AS.
Professional competence 4 Ability to foster awareness of problems
Deeply consider various issues related to soil environmental chemistry, such as global environmental issues, and study specific countermeasures.
Course prerequisites
You should have completed the basics of soil science.

Evaluate based on your own reports.
