Learning objectives: - Acquire theoretical knowledge regarding the state of the art incardiac physiology and understand how these knowledge were acquired - Be able to mobilize this knowledge for the recognition, diagnosis,evaluation, treatment and follow-up of heart failure and electricaldisorders

-Prerequisites on heart function, homeostasis of circulation,bioenergetics and electrophysiology of the heart will be accessible ona numeric platform dedicated to the Master -This program is taught entirely in English, proficiency in English istherefore required (CEFR level B2). -Personal computer & internet access
Grading Philosophy
Assessment methods specifically describe:__ - Scientific article presentation (25%) - Practical work reports (25%) - Final written exam (50%) – 2hFailure if: -Average grade is below 10 / 20 -One of the 3 grades is below 8 / 20In case of failure, a second session will be held, consisting of anoral presentation and interrogation after self-study of an additionalsubject.
Course schedule
The content will include: -Mechanics of heart function studied at different integration levels:subcellular, cellular, organ, entire organ -Energy metabolism of the heart and energetics of heart contraction andrelaxation -Electrophysiology of the heart at different levels of integration: subcellular, cellular and entire organ -Interplay between mechanics, bioenergetics and electrophysiology ofthe heart
Course type
Standard classroom, e-learning, tutorials, practical work The course will focus on the key concepts of cardiac function, bio-energetics and electrophysiology. For each module, content delivery will be hybrid, with the following sequence: - Self-study (documents available on an online platform) - Lectures and Complementary seminars - Tutorials: Critical analysis of scientific articles - Practical work (experimentations) at the laboratory During the tutorials and practicals, students are split into small (3person) groups of different backgrounds. - 82 contact hours (58h lectures, 6h tutorials, 16h practicals, 2h exam) - 100 hours self-study (35h e-learning, 20h exam preparation, 45hgroup work: scientific article analysis and practical work reports)
