Human Computer Interaction University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

This course provides lectures on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Basics of HCI for realizing natural interaction, and brief overview of design, implementation, and evaluation methodologies for building interactive systems are explained. Technological elements for intelligent systems such as user interface (UI), robotics, computer vision and recognition are in the scope. The course also touches on recent research advancement in social computing for supporting and augmenting human communication and information sharing.

Learning Achievement

Students will develop an understanding of the principles and how-to-use of technological elements that are the basis of human-computer interaction.
Students will develop an understanding of a variety of interactive systems for human interaction, including their designs, their use cases, evaluation techniques, and the latest research achievements, etc.

Course prerequisites

Grading Philosophy

Two report assignments
50 points for the first half, 50 points for the second half, total of 100 points
A score of 60 or more is acceptable.

The report for the first half will be evaluated based on understanding of the study contents, originality and amount of the submitted report.
The report for the second half will be evaluated based on understanding of the study contents and research based on the study.
