Introduction to Kanji 1-1A University of Tsukuba
Course Overview
Students will learn about how kanji conveys meaning, and how to distinguish between different character forms and structures. They will study the kanji that appear most often in everyday life and devise strategies for how to remember them. (BKBL1-11)
Learning Achievement
The aim of the course is to learn the most essential kanji, around 110 characters. Students will learn about how kanji conveys meaning, how to distinguish between different character forms and structures, and how to use them.

1.Comunination ability, 3.Data and information literacy, and 4.Broad perspective and international character
Course prerequisites
Students should be able to read and write hiragana and katakana characters, and have Japanese proficiency of at least J1.
Grading Philosophy
Homework assignments 20%, Quizzes 30%, Final test 50% (Attendance rate of 70% or higher is required)

Homework will be given regularly and must be turned in. Students are expected to learn kanji through classroom drills and homework, and to be conscious of the kanji they see at school and in daily life and try to recall their meaning and reading.
