Introduction to Normative Ethics Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Course Overview
Normative ethics is a subfield of practical philosophy attempting to answer the questions which motives, actions, rules of actions, character traits or even institutions are required or forbidden, and why. In this introductory course we shall explore and discuss the most prominent traditions, positions, and methods in normative ethics (e.g., virtue ethics, moral sentimentalism, Kantian ethics and consequentialism) as well as the main problems and complexities of normative ethics.

Course prerequisites
A prior understanding of the nature of moral-normative questions and knowledge of moral-normative theories.
