Students will be able to exchange information about familiar, everyday topics.
Learning Achievement
Students will be able to listen to, understand, and talk about everyday topics and things around them. This course will focus on listening and speaking practice of Japanese used in daily life.

Course prerequisites
Students have to certify this subject(Japanese ability of at least J1(PT score 31〜47)) fits their level by taking the placement test.
Grading Philosophy
Class participation 35%, Assignments 35%, Final test 30% Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.
Course schedule
This course will cover the following topics. (Odd-numbered chapters of the textbook will be covered.) Week 1: Orientation; My family and myself - Lesson 1: We live in Tokyo Week 2: Seasons and weather - Lesson 3: It's spring now in Japan Week 3: My town - Lesson 5: This park is big and beautiful Week 4: Going out - Lesson 7: Is ten o'clock OK? Week 5: Languages and culture of other countries - Lesson 9: Japanese is easy to pronounce Week 6: Eating outdoors - Lesson 11: What are you going to take to the picnic? Week 7: Business trips - Lesson 13: I have met Mr. Tanaka before Week 8: Staying healthy - Lesson 15: How about doing some exercise?
