Students will be able to exchange information about familiar, everyday topics. They will be able to talk, using simple language, about their personal background and other information.

Students should have Japanese ability of CEFR A1; close to level A2 is ideal.

Grading Philosophy

Class participation 20%, Assignments (Homework) 20%, Final presentation 60%
Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.

Course schedule

In this course, students will study independently the online "Marugoto Course" of JF Japanese e-Learning Minato (https://minato-jf.jp/). During the class time, we will practice dialogues from the textbook, and the instructor will provide answers to individual questions.
This course will cover the even-numbered chapters of the textbook. The odd-numbered chapters will be covered in Elementary 2 (activities) 1.
