Course Overview

This course will cover the language knowledge (writing system, vocabulary, grammar, sentence patterns, etc.) necessary for students to communicate about themselves, their families, things happening around them, and other things directly related to themselves, as well as familiar cultural topics.

Learning Achievement

To be able to understand the language knowledge (writing system, vocabulary, grammar, sentence patterns) necessary for exchanging
information about familiar, everyday topics such as personal information, shopping, and travel.

Course prerequisites

Students should have Japanese ability of CEFR A1; close to level A2 is ideal.

Grading Philosophy

Class participation 10%, Assignments (Homework) 30%, Final exam 60%
