Course Overview
This course will utilize short and clearly spoken listening materials about familiar and everyday topics. Students will be able to listen with accuracy; pick up and take note of important information; and understand the flow of the speech.
Learning Achievement
This course aims at improving students’ listening comprehension skills at an intermediate level. The aim is to enable students to understand short listening material on topics encountered in daily life.
Competence
Course prerequisites
Students have to certify this subject fits their level by taking the placement test (http://ttbj-tsukuba.org/) or by passing a subject one level below this subject. Students who know and can understand grammar and vocabulary covered in elementary Japanese (SFJ Vols. 1 to 3).

Students are expected to make an effort to actively listen to the radio and to watch TV outside of class hours. The University of Tsukuba online learning tool, manaba, will be used in the distribution of handouts and for homework submission, so make sure you are able to have PC access at any terminal on campus.
