Japanese 6 Grammar 2A (Upper-intermediate) University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

This class will review grammar points learned at the lower intermediate level, and introduce grammar points for the intermediate level. Students will learn practical grammar, focusing on how to differentiate related grammatical structures according to pragmatic characteristics and usage, and learn how to use them correctly in everyday situations.

Learning Achievement

Students will review grammar points and sentence patterns covered in the elementary level. This course will focus on expressions with many possible conjugations, and how to differentiate between them according to situation.

Course prerequisites

Students must already possess grammar proficiency equivalent to intermediate level.

Grading Philosophy

Homework 30%, Quizzes 30%, Final test 40%
(70% or higher attendance is required.)
Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.

Students are expected to be prepared before coming to class. In order for them to determine and check the correct usage of Japanese grammar, they will be asked to write many example sentences and discuss these in class. They must review their lessons after every class.
