Course Overview
Students will be able to write logical reports of around 3000 characters about social and cultural themes. They will be able to: distinguish between styles for factual and opinion writing; explain objectively about systems and structures; write conclusions containing assessments and arguments; and write summaries and abstracts.

Students will be able to acquire the logical thinking necessary for studying at the university and write the objective and logical sentences necessary for writing reports and dissertations to be submitted in class.
Course prerequisites
Students who have completed Level J7 or have attained a level similar to N1 of the Japanese-Language Proficency Test.

Students must submit assigned compositions. They will be reading the work of other students in class and are expected to exchange ideas and learn from each other. The University of Tsukuba online learning tool, Manaba, will be used. To create the portfolio, students should keep all homework and handouts in a file.
