Course Overview
Students will learn to use upper-intermediate kanji vocabulary correctly in practice as they learn how to read and write them. Students will take kanji from things they want to read on their own and devise methods to be able to use them.(IKB vol.1 L6-10)
Learning Achievement
Students will be able to remember reading and writing of upper intermediate level kanji vocabulary and be able to use them appropriately. They will also learn to extract kanji and kanji vocabulary from reading material they enjoy and be able to devise ways to use these.

Course prerequisites
Students must be in Level Comprehensive Japanese 4 or higher, or have completed Kanji 5.
Grading Philosophy
Homework 30%, Quizzes 20%, Task30%,Final test 20% (Attendance rate of 70% or higher is required)
Course schedule
Lessons 6 to 10 of Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. 1 will be covered for the entire semester. Homework will be regularly given. Students are expected to not only learn kanji through classroom drills and homework, but to be proactive in learning kanji vocabulary which they find essential.
