Course Overview
Students will be able to properly distinguish between and use vocabulary depending on their specialized fields, such as educational psychology in the humanities and science and technology in the sciences, while they learn to read and write advanced level kanji vocabulary. They will also select kanji and kanji vocabulary from reading material they enjoy and learn how to use them for their own purposes. (IKB vol.2 L1-5)
Learning Achievement
Students will be able to use properly vocabulary depending on their specialized fields, such as education and psychology in the humanities and science and technology in the sciences, as they learn the reading and writing of advanced level kanji vocabulary. They will also learn to derive kanji and kanji vocabulary from the reading materials they enjoy and be able to devise ways to use them.

Course prerequisites
Students have to certify this subject fits their level by taking the placement test (http://ttbj-tsukuba.org/) or by passing a subject one level below this subject.
Grading Philosophy
Task and Assingnments 10%, Quizzes 30%, Final test 60% (Attendance rate of 70% or higher is required) Note that grades from A+ to C are to be determined based on the total score.

Other information
Homework will be regularly given. Students are expected to not only learn kanji from the textbook, but to be proactive in acquiring kanji vocabulary which they find essential and using these in order to learn them. They may be asked to explain synonyms, antonyms, and functions of kanji they have learned. The class will be flexible according to the students' level and needs and changes will be made to exercises, tasks, and assignments as necessary.
