Kants Aesthetics National Taiwan University
College of Liberal Arts
Department of Philosophy
In this course we will read Kant's theory of aesthetics as presented in his third Critique, the Critique of Judgment. We will use the Cambridge Edition.
The course objective is to arrive at an understanding of Kant's theory of aesthetics, which is primarily an analysis of our faculty of making judgments of taste. Kant uses the results of this analysis to discuss various issues such as genius, beauty of nature, beauty of art, and the relationship between beauty and morality.
