Course Overview
「基礎ドイツ語AI/AII」「基礎ドイツ語BI」で修得した言語知識を踏まえて、4技能(読む・聞く・話す・書く)の総合的な伸長に配慮しながら、ドイツ語圏の文化と社会の理解をさらに深めることを目指します。
Learning Achievement
The objectives are on one hand to get to know various aspects of German culture and society, and on the other hand to improve all four German language skills. After completion of this course and the related subsequent course, motivated students should soon be able to pass the SD2-exam by the Goethe Institute (A2).

Students should be willing to interact with each other in various forms, directly or digitally.
Grading Philosophy
Question time & homework 50%, 2 oral tests 20%, 2 written tests 20%, 1 report 10%.
Course schedule
There will be quizzes, tests and homework in almost every lesson. The textbook is in German/Japanese, but the instructional language is mainly German/English.Introduction of course and course participants. Short review practice test (gap-filling, word scramble & word order test).German fairy tale: "Frau Holle"; Introduction of the "lifeline", a set of questions and formulas that help to interact with only basic language knowledge.Oral practice test: Reading aloud a children story with Q&A. Written practice test: Gap filling and scramble test on key terms.Detailed "Selbstvorstellungen" (Self introductions)."Geographie und Klima" (Geography and climate).First written test: Gap filling and scramble test on key vocabulary and key sentences."Essen und Trinken" (Eating and drinking)."Deutsche Sprache" (The German language).First oral test: Short speeches on key topics, followed by Q&A."Studium in Deutschland" (Studying in Germany)."Feiertage, Urlaub und Freizeitaktivitaten" (Holidays, vacation and leisure activities).Second written test: Gap filling and scramble test on key vocabulary and key sentences."Innere Sicherheit in Deutschland" (Internal/domestic security in Germany)."Schulsystem Deutschlands" (School system in Germany).Second oral test in random pairs: Short problem-solving, spontaneous dialogs on key topics in front of the class with Q&A.There might be shifts due to the individual class progression.
