Methods of Heat and Mass Transfer problems modelling Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Course Overview

Teaching the PhD students to modelling methods of Heat and Mass Transfer problems , preparing him for the right choice of calculation and design methods, getting acquainted with the latest achievements of science and technology in the field of heat transfer, developing students' logical thinking, self-thinking skills necessary in further work when solving those or other tasks of natural science and technology.

Learning Achievement

Students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge gained on the basic concepts of the modelling of Heat and Mass Transfer problems and the methods of solving problems and their understanding

Course prerequisites

Fundamentals of Differential equations, Equations of Mathematical Physics, Continuum Mechanics, Numerical Methods, Fluid Mechanics

Grading Philosophy

Exams (25%), Activity in classromm (75%)

Week1: Introduction. Physical Origins and Rate Equations Week2: Relationship to Thermodynamics. Conservation of Energy for a Control Volume Week3: Thermal and Mechanical Energy Equation over a Time Interval
