Methods of Theoretical Physics. Part 3. Theory of Electromagnetic Field Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Course Overview

The aim of the course: is to give deep fundamental knowledge on theory of electromagnetic field notion, one of the main chapters of theoretical physics, its mathematical apparatus, laws, principles, equations and etc. and about their applications.

As a result of studying the course, students must form professional competencies in the system: formation the theory of electromagnetic field notion, comprehension about its origin.

Mathematical Analysis 1, Mechanics, Mathematical Analysis 2, Analytic Geometry and Linear Algebra, Electricity and Magnetism, Differential and Integral Equations, Methods of Theoretical Physics. Part 1. Basics of Vector and Tensor Analysis, Electrodynamics

Grading Philosophy

Exams (25%), Activity in classromm (75%)

Course schedule

Week1: Introduction to Relativistic Theory of Electromagnetic Field. Week2: Velocity of propagation of interaction. Intervals. Proper time. Week3: The Lorentz transformation.
