Course Overview

The purpose of the discipline is to study of the basic concepts of the origin and functions of myths in the human mind (individual and collective) in the process of its evolution, various classifications of myth and ritual

Learning Achievement

Expected results: conduct a comparative analysis of the monuments of mythological literature of different times and peoples (synchronous and diachronous approaches)

Discipline is based on knowledge and skills obtained in the study of a natural- scientific and socio -humanitarian disciplines, learners passed in the previous stage.

Exams (25%), Activity in classromm (75%)

Course schedule

Week1: The emergence of myths. Myth as a type of knowledge. Week2: The theoretical approach to myth: Functionalism, structuralism. Week3: The specificity of mythological thinking in the works of Levy Bruhl. The Law of participation. How its work?
