Course Overview

- Identify the mechanical, electrical, and temporal features of a
wired or wireless network.
- Implement ssynchronous and synchronous serial communication on a
microcontroller architecture.
- Set a host on an IP network.
- Develop a client application implementing a simple protocol of
application level and a GUI, based event-driven programming, in an
industrial context.

Course prerequisites

C language and basic knowledge on the Input/Output ports.

Grading Philosophy

One lab exam (1.5 hours) and one exam (2 hours).

Course schedule

- Basic knowledge: Bit rate, signal modulation, Bandbase, topology
- Ethernet network
- TCP/IP protocol
- Programming sockets using the event-driven language Visual Basic
- Modbus on TCP
- Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter
- Synchronous bus I2C
