Phase Transformations in Materials University of Tsukuba
Course Overview
Since any properties of materials depend on their underlying microstructures, the knowledge on the control of microstructures are essential to all materials scientist. Phase transformation is an important tool to control the microstructures of materials. This course covers the fundamentals of phase transformations in materials, such as thermodynamics, phase diagrams, diffusion and interfaces.
Learning Achievement
To understand the basics of phase transformations in materials, such as thermodynamics, phase diagrams, diffusion and interfaces.
Competence
The aim of this course is to give students a specialized knowledge in the field of microstructure control in metallic materials. The class contributes to cultivate students who have high ability to conduct novel fundamental research and those who have ability to do applied research with a broad field of vision and flexibility.
