Plant Taxonomy I University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

Diversity, classification, morphology, ultrastructure, life history and phylogeny of non-green algae — glaucophytes, rhodophytes, cryptophytes, chlorarachniophytes, euglenophytes, dinoflagellates, haptophytes, and stramenopiles.

Learning Achievement

The goal is to understand the early evolution and the evolutionary diversity of photosynthetic eukaryotes, and to learn how the diverse photosynthetic eukaryotes are systematically understood and what logic and techniques are in it.

Competence

Lectures will give basic knowledge of the subject for understanding the diversity of all photosynthetic eukaryotes and for feeling the importance of it.

Course prerequisites

None.

Grading Philosophy

By Exam. (may change to Report assignment for 2022, depending on COVID-19 situation)
