Precision Agriculture Technology University of Tsukuba

Course Overview

Lectures will cover the topics of precision agricultural technology. Recent advancements in the agricultural field of automation, satellite remote sensing, and GIS. The Bigdata analytics, IoT in agriculture and machine learning systems are used in medium to large scale of agricultural production. The outdoor agricultural mechanization to indoor plant growth monitoring and machinery utilization are the core subjects of this course. Through this course students will get exposure of large satellite remote sensing systems for agriculture, UAV-based crop monitoring and IoT advancements in agriculture.

Learning Achievement

?To develop and use reasoning skill for analyzing precision agricultural systems
?To acquire and use selected techniques to develop sustainable agricultural practices
?To become acquainted with all types of problems, measure and means to develop a smart agricultural information system.

Competence

Precision agriculture knowledge will help students to think critically and creatively based on systematic understanding of the application of advanced knowledge in agriculture how to minimize application of fertilizer, pesticides and saving water infield and in-house agriculture.

Grading Philosophy

Quizzes to practice different problems of smart agriculture in the classes, Project Presentation that is building a demonstration model for general to public. The model should explain what is sustainable agriculture and related problems in the existing farming systems. Grading 40% Quiz, and 60% Final Examination
