Principles of Pharmacoeconomics and Valuation of Health States University of Bordeaux
Course Overview
> The aim of this course is: - To gain insight into different preference valuation techniques and(pharmaco) economic evaluation methods. - To be able to describe the elements and scope of Health TechnologyAssessment (HTA). - To be able to execute a cost study and how to take into account theperspective in such studies. - To be able to calculate the different effect measures used inpharmacoeconomics. - To be able to describe the different approaches for valuation ofhealth states and to interpret these values. - To be able to conduct a pharmacoeconomic analysis including allrelevant aspects (incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER), type ofoutcome analysis including differential timing, health outcomesmodels, and sensitivity analysis). - To be able to evaluate the quality of a pharmacoeconomic evaluationstudy. - To be able to design a pharmacoeconomic study(extendeion).

Course prerequisites
- Post-graduated leve in Health or Life Sciences. - Language prerequisites: Non-native English speakers must provide acertificate proving a minimum of English B2 level (cf. Europass[http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/]). - Computer and internet requirement.
Grading Philosophy
- Assessment is a mix of continuous assessment. - Final assessment takes place by videoconference.
