Course Overview

Elementary course on the developments of science and technology in Japan.

Learning Achievement

High level of research is being carried out in various diverse fields in Japan, some of which we read in the newspapers or see on TV. In this course, we will learn about the recent activities in some of these fields, and learn about the basic scientific principles that are involved.

Competence

The educational goal of this course is to get acquainted with some of the diverse scientific and technological fields in which research is being carried out in Japan.

Grading Philosophy

Evaluation will be made through assignments and classroom discussions.

Course schedule

Each lecture will focus on one particular topic such as given above. Scientific background, main scientific principles and recent progress will be taught. An assignment will be given for each lecture to test the scientific principles and recent progress.
