Theories and Problems of Physical Chemistry Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Course Overview

The purpose of the discipline: to form the ability of self-mastering, analysis and application of theories, approaches and trends in modern physical chemistry to solve theoretical and applied problems in the dissertation research; to predict, on the basis of the model approach, the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of the studied physicochemical systems and processes; carry out the synthesis and critical analysis of research results.

The doctoral student will be able to substantiate the theory and problems of chemical and electrochemical kinetics

Course schedule

Week1: The modern concept of formation mechanism of electrolyte solutions. The development of representations of electrolytic dissociation. Week2: Kapustinskiy equations. Dependence of crystal lattice energy on ionic radius of cation, anion and their charges. Week3: Solvation energy. Born model. The equation of the Born-Bjerruma.
