Course Overview

In this course, students learn how to analyze (SWOT analysis) and
present a Neuroscience research project. They will be able to identify
the main points of a Neuroscience project and make a proper summary.
They will finally discover the practical aspects of their possible
future in Neuroscience (academy, industry and other jobs).

Course prerequisites

- Students should possess a Bachelor degree (180 ECTS) or equivalent
diploma in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, medical
studies, pharmacy, cognitive sciences or psychology. - A proven
interest and solid basic knowledge in the field of Neuroscience must
be provided by students with a Bachelor degree in another subject
(chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science). - Language
prerequisites: fluency in English.

Grading Philosophy

> Grading is based on continuous assessment and presentations. 

Course schedule

Learning outcomes:

- Depth knowledge of at least one specialized Neurosciences field -
Learn to build a clear and structured presentation of a research -
Apply SWOT analysis to a scientific proposal

Course type

- Face-to-face teaching: 27 hours (lectures: 16 hours; tutorials: 11 hours). - Personal student work: 60 hours. - Lectures on different jobs in neuroscience. Each course is followed by a question/discussion session.  GRANT ANALYSIS: Students will work in pairs. They will study and understand a real research grant proposal. Then they will do a SWOT analysis (strength weakness opportunity and treat) of the proposal to understand how to evaluate a project. During classes, students will present the projects and critically discussed with the teacher and all other students.

other study results, high motivation, adequate prerequisites.
